Lush Palouse June 21-26, 2026
I have been leading groups in The Palouse since 2014 and have many favorite places. Before each trip, I scout to confirm locations, renew permissions, and find out where crops, such as canola, are planted. The itinerary is fluid and is based on pre-workshop scouting, weather conditions, crop maturity, and community events. After scouting, an itinerary will be determined and shared each evening with everyone so we can prepare for the coming day.
Our first day will be a day for everyone to arrive and get settled. We'll meet for an evening photo session and dinner where we'll review our trip and prepare for the week.
All cameras are welcome. I enjoy photographing with Fuji gear, love infrared, and have a special affinity for the iPhone. I'll be there to support you whether you're photographing with your DSLR, mirrorless, infrared camera, iPhone or all of the above as many of us do today. Whether you’re brand new to photography or looking to take your images to the next level, I’ll guide you with hands-on instruction, editing tips, and creative techniques.
My focus is on getting you to great locations and supporting you in anyway I can to fulfill your vision as a photographer. While I am always there for you, I will photograph along side of you. This ensures that I can quickly address questions about scenes, share camera settings, and suggest composition ideas.

I founded Rad Drew Photography, LLC in 2009 and have built my career around photography, teaching, and the shared experience of exploring remarkable places with other photographers. I lead photography workshops and tours throughout the USA and internationally, including the Palouse, Cape Cod, the United Arab Emirates, Tuscany, the South of France, and Calabria.
I’m an experienced educator and frequent presenter at photography conferences and camera clubs, working with photographers using everything from iPhones to traditional cameras. My teaching emphasizes creativity, seeing differently, and helping photographers get the most from the equipment they already have.
My photography — particularly my creative iPhone work — has received numerous awards and has been exhibited in galleries from New York to Melbourne. I’m a frequent contributor to the PSA Journal and was recognized in PSA Who’s Who in Photography in 2018.
I live with my wife, metalsmith Nancy Lee, in an historic community in Indianapolis, Indiana.

The maximum group size for this trip is 10 participants.
I intentionally keep my workshops relatively small. Over the years, participants have consistently told me how much they value traveling and photographing with a group that is large enough to be social and engaging, but small enough that everyone gets to know one another and share the experience.
A limited group size also makes our day-to-day logistics easier and gives us greater flexibility as we travel, photograph, and respond to changing conditions and opportunities.
Most importantly, it allows me to be available to you when you need me.
My approach as a group leader is introduce you to extraordinary locations at the right time of day and to give you the freedom to do your own thing. I won't intrude, but if/when you want help, I’m there.
Whether you have questions about composition, camera settings, infrared photography with your “big” camera or your iPhone, or simply want another set of eyes on what you’re seeing, I’ll be available to work with you individually.
Capping the group at 10 allows me to preserve that personal, flexible approach while still creating the camaraderie and shared experience that have become such an enjoyable part of these trips.
This Trip is for Traditional, Infrared, and iPhone Photographers.
On my trips participants use both traditional and iPhone cameras, and some today travel only with their iPhone.
While I enjoy supporting traditional photographers and infrared photography with converted "big" cameras, I also love the iPhone. I've been creating with the iPhone since my first iPhone 4 in 2009 and I've been amazed at the evolution of the iPhone in recent years! Today's iPhone is a tool worthy of our camera bag and for many, offers a way to travel light while still creating high quality photographs. If you're an iPhone photographer, I'll support you in getting the most from your iPhone camera, camera apps, and processing tools. That includes creating infrared with the iPhone, which I've been exploring since the iPhone 11 Pro Max.
I'll be there to support you in the field in creating great photos with your traditional camera, infrared camera, or iPhone.
I scout before each trip to find new locations, confirm favorite subjects, and renew permissions. I'll get you to locations for the best light for the subject.
It's important to stay hydrated. Bottled water will be available each day.

We caravan on this trip with three to four per vehicle. We encourage networking with others to share rental cars and costs.
I don't determine an itinerary until after I've scouted the region before each workshop. Each day is planned based on weather and what I've learned about the location of crops, barns, and other subjects.
Depending on the weather and cloud cover each day, we'll photograph locations throughout the region that include old, sometimes abandoned structures, crop fields, cloud shadows, lone trees, streams and bridges, small historic towns, farm equipment, retired farm trucks, and some sunrises and sunsets.
We'll eat lunch in small local restaurants, get ice cream at a local hardware store, and may take in cultural events such as an antique car show, boat race or other event that may be going on while we're in the area.
We'll have at least one classroom learning session to discuss photographing techniques and processing, and every photo session in the field is an opportunity for learning.
My goal is to get you to photogenic locations at the right time of day, and make myself available to support you as needed. I will photograph along side of you, but mostly so I can share camera settings or show composition suggestions. Your questions and needs for support are why we're here and take precedent over my photography.
